Technical difficulty: 4/10

Objective danger: 3/10 (summit slope)
Landscape: 8/10
Busy: 7/10

A high alpine tour traverses mostly the slopes of the Stubai ski resort, with an ending through couloir and a short summit slope. Amazing views of the Stubai alps.

Starting point: Mutterbergalm
Ending point: Mutterbergalm
Ascend:
1450vm / 5h
Exposition:
summit slope is south, most of the non-slope skiing is east.

Route:

We start from the parking lot at Mutterbergalm. Follow the ski slopes up towards Dresdner Hütte. From there follow the ski slope number 3 towards Gamsgarten and eventually the bottom station of the Daunjoch ski lift. Continue under the Daunjoch cable car up towards the top station and from the across a short slope towards the Daunjoch saddle.

From the Daunjoch, depending on conditions, either ascend directly over the steep south flank to the summit (often on foot — the safest option) or continue on skis further north, traversing through a hollow, and approach the summit from the west on skis (caution: this route involves crossing a short, steep slope prone to slab avalanches!).

Descent:

Either same as ascent. You can also follow a wide bowl a bit south of the Daunjoch cable car and traverse out to the ski slopes higher up.
